Gain Confidence & Improve Grades in Science

The QS curriculum for Science aims to ensure that all students develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the subjects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. We ensure that students develop an understanding of nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them.

Our learning programmers are fully designed according to the National Curriculum.

Key Stage 3 Science Tuition

Key Stage 3 Science is part of the National Curriculum and is designed for students aged 11 to 14, typically covering Years 7 to 9. During this stage, students build on their foundational knowledge from Key Stage 2 and explore a more in-depth understanding of scientific concepts across three main disciplines:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
Key Stage 3 Science Tuition

Here is a brief overview of what is typically we covered in each area:

1. Biology:

Cells and organisms: Understanding the structure and function of cells, tissues, organs, and systems in living organisms.

Human biology: Topics such as the human body, nutrition, and the circulatory system.

Ecosystems: Studying habitats, food chains, and the interdependence of organisms.

Reproduction and inheritance: Basic concepts of reproduction in plants and animals, and the basics of genetics.

2. Chemistry:

Matter and its properties: Understanding the states of matter, elements, compounds, and mixtures.

Chemical reactions: Introduction to reactions, including changes of state, and basic chemical equations.

Acids and alkalis: Understanding pH, indicators, and the properties of acids and bases.

The periodic table: Basic knowledge of elements and their organisation.

3. Physics:

Forces and motion: Concepts of speed, gravity, friction, and the effects of forces on objects.

Energy: Different forms of energy, energy transfer, and conservation of energy.

Waves: Introduction to sound and light waves, their properties and behaviors.

Electricity and magnetism: Basic principles of circuits, current, voltage, and magnetism.

GCSE Science Tuition

GCSE Science is an important stage in education, typically taken by students aged 14 to 16 (years 10 and 11). The GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) qualifications in Science can be taken as separate subjects (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) or as combined science.

Combined Science covers a broad range of topics from Biology, Chemistry and Physics but in less depth than the separate Sciences. It typically includes key concepts from each discipline, allowing students to gain a well-rounded understanding of Science.

A-Level Science Tuition

A-level Science is an advanced qualification typically taken by students aged 16 to 18 in the UK, usually in Years 12 and 13. A-levels are more specialised than GCSEs and allow students to delve deeper into specific scientific disciplines. The main A-level Science subjects are Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and students can choose to study one, two, or all three, depending on their interests and future career aspirations.
